The Electrical and Electronic Engineering programmes are designed to meet the demands of Kenya’s growing technological and industrial ambitions. In an increasingly digital and energy-dependent world, the role of electrical and electronic engineering is crucial. From chips design, power generation and industrial automation to smart devices and communication systems, the discipline serves as a cornerstone for
innovation and national development.
A key focus of the programme is to support innovations that will contribute to building a stable and efficient national energy grid and supporting manufacturing operations through design of silicon devices, development of automation methods and communication systems. As envisioned in the Kenya Vision 2030 agenda, the specialization areas under the programme are critical to achieving rapid and sustainable growth.
Strategic priorities include the development of renewable energy sources, design of semiconductor circuits and devices, the exploration of renewable and geothermal resources, construction of resilient energy infrastructure, and strengthening institutional capacity. Our Electrical and Electronic Engineering curriculum is aligned with these priorities, preparing graduates to engage with the country’s electrical and electronic engineering needs through both research and practical application.
Students in the programme are immersed in a wide range of specialized areas, including:
Semiconductor Circuits and Devices
Communication and Signal Processing
Electric Energy Systems
Industrial Robotics and Automation
